به گزارش سرویس بین‌‌الملل باشگاه خبرنگاران شبکه العربیه لحظاتی پیش گزارش داد:دیوان پادشاهی عربستان سعودی در حکمی "شاهزاده مقرن بن عبد العزیز " را به عنوان جانشین ولیعهد این کشور منصوب کرد.
در بیانیه دیوان پادشاهی عربستان سعودی آمده است، در صورت خالی شدن منصب پادشاهی یا ولیعهدی، یا مرگ این دو، شاهزاده مقرن بن عبد العزیز، تصدی امور را در دست خواهد گرفت.
در ادامه بیانیه پادشاه عربستان آمده است، از این پس شاهزاده "مقرن بن عبد العزیز" جانشین ولیعهد شده و در صورت رسیدن سلمان بن عبد العزیر به پادشاهی، "شاهزاده متعب" فرزند ارشد ملک عبدالله به عنوان معاون دوم نخست وزیر تعیین می شود.
روزنامه "العرب" چاپ لندن امروز (پنج شنبه) هم پیش از انتشار این بیانیه به نقل از منابع آگاه سعودی اعلام کرده بود، "ملک عبدالله" پادشاه عربستان از هیأت بیعت درخواست کرده است که با تعیین "مقرن" به عنوان ولیعهد پس از رسیدن "سلمان" به پادشاهی موافقت کند.
این منابع آگاه خاطرنشان کردند که حدود دو سوم اعضای هیأت 34 نفره بیعت با این طرح موافقت کردند.
بر اساس این گزارش، "سلمان" (79 ساله) اصرار کرده است که فرزندش "محمد" به عنوان جایگزین خودش یعنی ولیعهد و وزیر دفاع تعیین شود.
"مقرن" (68 ساله) که از سوی ملک عبدالله برای ولیعهدی پیشنهاد شده، کوچکترین فرزند ملک عبدالعزیز است.
این منابع به روزنامه العرب خاطرنشان کردند: تغییرات احتمالی راه را برای فرزندان نسل دوم و سوم جهت تصدی پستهای مهم و حساس، هموار می‌کند.
اکنو فقط 3 تن از فرزندان نسل دوم پستهای حساسی در عربستان دارند. یکی از آنها سعود الفیصل است که به مدت حدود 40 سال وزیر خارجه این کشور است. نفر دیگر نیز "محمد بن نایف" است که از نوامبر 2012 وزیر کشور است.
متعب بن عبدالله نیز وزیر گارد ملی است.
